Block C- Enviroment

Penguins: In this painting I have shown the penguins moving in their home to find colder environments to safely re produce, I used acrylic to do the background to give it quite a bold look. I used acrylic spray to create the Northern light I thought it would have been an easier way to mix colours rather than use acrylics from the tubes. To create the starry night I watered down white acrylic paint and used a large bristled brush and started flicking in areas. the penguins themselves i drew and painted them in my sketchbook then photocopied them in various sizes, i did this because i wanted every penguin to be the same and cut them to compliment their surroundings to make them more 3D I gave them grey shadows. Personally I really love how it came out it really conveys the message I want people to see.
Javan Rhino: In this piece I wanted to convey how the zoo can be the worse place for animals however they can be the safest, It gets them away from poachers that kill them for their tusks when they can just sedate them because there tusks can grow back they are the same material as our finger nails. When I heard about the Javan rhinos troubles I needed to create a piece to carry on this story for people to think. To create this I drew the rhino in my sketchbook and photocopied it and stuck it on a pieces of wood and I found this wood piece and it was the perfect size for the rhino. I added plastic to act like a plastic sheet to finish the piece I added an information label that you have in Zoos to show that they are getting killed in their habitat and show the zoo may be a bad place for them however it could be a safer.

hawksbill turtle: In this piece I wanted to convey that the turtles are swimming in their own death, They think the plastic are jellyfish therefore they go ahead and try and eat it but choke to their death, we are helping by putting a 5p charge on plastic bags however they are still getting killed and becoming extinct. We humans are their biggest threat. to create this I painted the turtle in my sketchbook with watercolour then photocopied and stuck on the board then I placed cling film around the turtle and glued bits of a plastic bottle. To create the sea like look I used blue and white acrylic paint.
Elephants: I wanted this piece to be quite gruesome to really convey the message, I wanted to make hunters poster where a hunter is trying to contact all other hunters to say they are nearly extinct lets finish them off, It hits people hard because elephants look so peaceful and happy in the zoo but we don't see the full picture they are endangered and need our help to survive. to create this i drew the 2 elephants with watercolour and photocopied from my sketchbook and stuck these onto my board, i intentionally used a old piece of wood because this is a hunters poster they are not gonna want their board to look perfect. I drew the gun in my sketchbook to and then photocopied and stuck on my board. to finish the board off i added red acrylic paint to look like blood.
Penguin 2: this piece was to show the penguins are getting effected by global warming. i thought it would be perfect to put it on a ice lolly stick to show not only the ice caps are getting affected the animals that are living there are. This is a picture of my drawing in my sketchbook, i used watercolour to create this.
