The History of Art in three colours -Episode 1 GOLD
Dr James Fox presents this interesting show about 3 different colours Gold, Blue and White
Personally the story of the Egyptians really interested me because:
Egyptians
The first episode was a timeline on how gold became such a big thing in our world. Egyptians use to think gold was scared and thought it was something from the gods. They use to celebrate the sun through gold (the sun god )because it use to glow like the sun therefore they made chariots to celebrate the sun and gold. They also thought gold was magical because no other thing could glisten like gold, pharaohs use to make their tomb, it would be full of gold pieces, there cast was all gold with sacred gems because they thought they would posses powers and make them immortal Tutankhamen had the most gold in his tomb, his death mask alone was made of 110kg of solid gold. in Egypt they use to get the Dwarfs to do they gold work (goldsmiths) they believed they possessed magical powers, in the pyramids they had pictures on how to create gold, in one picture there are 2 people talking to each other one is saying in hieroglyphs 'oh isn't it beautiful' the other goldsmith says 'get on with your work slow coach'
